This is the obvious place to leave the car for a day at Empuriabrava: a large open lot off Passatge Salins, right at the foot of the Club Nàutic and the Grand Canal promenade, “a few metres from the beach… next to the Yacht Club” and “right in front of all the shops, restaurants and bars.” The key thing to know is the seasonal pricing — as regulars explain, “from June to September it’s paid; the rest of the year it’s free,” with pay-machines nearby in summer. It is genuinely big (“huge parking lot, lots of free spaces”), but “usually very crowded during peak season,” so in July and August come early. For most of the year, though, it is the easy, free, central choice.
